Alicante is a city that has a lot to offer, both its wonderful beaches and its lovely hinterland.
You can be part in the history of the city thanks to Santa Bárbara Castle which moves you to another time full of memories and lets the imagination wander. Under it, you can find the old town, where is located the neighbourdhood of Santa Cruz with its peculiar little streets full of flowers that turns it in a pretty lovely place.
We cannot forget the ruins of the ancient Alicante, which are found in the Albufera coast and in the center of the city.
San Juan Bonfires are the festivities of Alicante, they take place between 19 and 24 of June. They are prepared during the whole year and are days with lots of fun, emotion and joy.
It is a Mediterranean island located 22 kilometers from Alicante and 8 kilometers from Santa Pola’s port. There you can enjoy its gastronomy in the delightful restaurants on the beach. Marine Reserve in Tabarca Island: located in the surrounding waters of the insland, it was declared in 1986 the first marine reserve in Spain. It is a real refuge for both flora and to marine fauna.
Algar Waterfalls, Castell de Guadalest
Located just 15 km from Benidorm and 3 km from Callosa d’en Sarria they are a natural area, but also theme park. It has a 1.5 km route along the bed of the Algar river with waterfalls, natural springs and pools of water where you can take a refreshing swim, given that the water temperature throughout the year is 18º.
Ifach is a huge rock that rises on the coast of Alicante, in Calpe. It is one of the most visited natural parks of the area.
At its foot is the fishing port where the daily is received and cooked to your specification.
Villajoyosa, Benidorm and Altea
Villajoyosa is a lovely little village very close to Benidorm. It is remarkable for its multicolored houses and promenade. In addition, for chocolate lovers, you cannot miss the Valor Chocolate Museum, where they explain to you the manufacturing process.
Jijona is known worldwide for being the place where our most typical Christmas sweet is produced, turrón (nougat), both Jijona and Alicante ones. Apart from the obligatory visit to the Turrón Museum, Jijona offers a variety of activities for both adults and children.
Lovers of tasting local products can not miss this route. Beginning in Ibi in Quesería de Andrés (Cheese factory), for tasting up to 12 varieties of cheese with typical wines of the province. The route continues in Tibi, in Quesería VAlle de Tibi, where they show you how they make their cheese. After these tastings of cheese, you continue a beer route. Spigha Beers is in Alcoy. Here we will learn the process of brewing, plus you can take six ales. This route is only available on Saturdays and the price of each place of the route is 5 €.
